What to Expect On Your First Visit | Shoreline Vision Eye Care

Your First Visit

The eye care tradition at Shoreline Ophthalmology began in 1996 with five different ophthalmologists forming a group practice. The formation of the group allowed the physicians to work together in offering the Muskegon and Tri-Cities residents the best possible vision care available.

For almost 50 years the physicians, specialists and employees of Shoreline Vision have been providing the citizens of the Muskegon/Tri-Cities and its surrounding areas excellence in vision care. As witnessed by the long and dedicated history in our community, our organizations objective remains the same: “to be the premier, fully-integrated regional eye care provider with the mission of preserving and improving vision.”

Your first appointment at Shoreline Vision will take about 1- 1 1/2 hours. During a complete exam, a technician will review your medical and ocular history, check your vision and your eye pressure. The technician will also do a refraction and dilate your eyes. After dilation, you will meet with the doctor. The doctor will check the health of your eyes and review test results from any testing that may have been done. The doctor will let you know if he or she would recommend getting a new prescription for glasses or contacts.

* If your appointment is with one of our retina specialists, please be advised these appointments can take 2-3 hours due to additional testing.

After having your eyes dilated it may be difficult for you to read small print. You will also be sensitive to bright light and may prefer to wear sunglasses for your ride home. If you do not have sunglasses, we will have some available for you.

Please be aware that we are a busy practice and we try to give all of our patients equal time with the doctors. If you cannot keep your appointment, please give adequate notice to our office. This courtesy makes it possible to give an appointment to another patient in need of eye care. In the event of a cancellation, a standby list is available for the benefit of those desiring an earlier appointment. To cancel your appointment please call (888) 739-9009.
