The vision to be Muskegon and the Tri-Cities’ Regional Eye Care Provider started when a group of eye doctors joined together in 1996. The surgery center grew from that mind set and is located adjacent to Shoreline’s Eye Care Center on Sherman Blvd. in Muskegon. An ASC is a professional surgery center dedicated to certain surgical specialties. The 8,800 sq. foot center houses two operating rooms, a laser treatment room as well as pre-operative and post-operative facilities. "We feel the ASC is specialized and therefore much more personal in care delivery. Many of our patients have also commented about personal care and the comfortable atmosphere in the ASC setting. The Evaluation Board of the Alliance for Health, a Grand Rapids health-care planning agency, voted unanimously in late 2003 to endorse the project and recommended approval to the Michigan Department of Community Health. The Department gave its approval in 2004 and a few months later, ground was broken to start construction. Upon licensing from the State of Michigan and final certification from Medicare, Shoreline Vision Surgical Center began operations in May 2006. Shoreline Vision performs cataract, LASIK as well as many other eye related surgeries at its surgical facility. It is the first Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) around Muskegon and the Tri-Cities Area and is devoted solely to surgery of the eye.
