You must have a qualified high-deductible insurance policy to open an HSA. Coverage for qualified medical expenses is defined by the IRS. Contributions to HSA's are made on a 100% tax-deductible basis, which means you can deduct them from your gross taxable income. HSA's grow from year to year making them a long-term saving advantage.
