AcrySof Toric IOL

NEW TECHNOLOGY

When a patient has significant astigmatism, a single vision intraocular lens (IOL) will not give clear vision at any distance. Patients with astigmatism have corneas that are not round, but rather oblong like a football. Toric IOLs have a unique design that offsets the imbalance of the corneal astigmatism. In this way they can significantly improve distance (or near) vision in these patients who otherwise would need glasses after surgery.

The TORIC lens is also a radically different lens. The traditional replacement lens implanted when a cataract is removed clears the vision, but cannot correct the astigmatism. Corrective eyewear or additional surgery are needed to reduce blurring or distortion. Now you can leave your glasses and contacts behind and recapture quality distance vision in only one step with the AcrySof® Toric lens. Like the ReSTOR®, the Toric is a foldable, single-piece lens that your surgeon at Shoreline Vision will implant during cataract surgery to replace the clouded lens.

DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY

The Toric makes it possible to reduce or eliminate corneal astigmatism and significantly improve uncorrected distance vision. The Toric lens is a foldable, single-piece lens that our surgeons implant during cataract surgery to replace the clouded lens. The unique design of the Toric IOL makes it possible to reduce or eliminate corneal astigmatism and significantly improve uncorrected distance vision. AcrySof Toric lens provide quality distance vision, independent of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Toric lens implants are used in patients who have astigmatism in their eyes. Astigmatism is when your eye is shaped more like a football than a basketball, causing blurred vision in all distances. The unique design of the new Acrysof® Toric IOL makes it possible to reduce or eliminate astigmatism and significantly improve uncorrected distance vision. Not all patients are good candidates for the IOL and more advanced measurements may need to be taken prior to your surgery. This lens does NOT allow you to read at near without your glasses.
